LEADERSHIP– The GOAL PATH way to success and joy
A mywhy.in
initiative produced by Charles D. PINTO.
Some of the
deliverables you’ll get from reading this short blog are mentioned in the title
above, the full list is exhaustive. Let’s start.
.
The LEADERSHIP role is to define
the GOAL, provide necessary resources, information and support to followers for
achieving the goal. It is a key tool in The Hope Project, you may want to
review the related blog on HOPE (https://bit.ly/HOPEnOw), FAITH (https://bit.ly/FATHnow ), EMPATHY (https://bit.ly/EMPATHYNow) AND S.M.A.R.T goals https://bit.ly/SMARTgoalsNoW) before
you enter the fifth, LEADERSHIP.
Based on GOAL
PATH, there are four primary types of LEADERSHIP styles as explained below.
DIRECT
LEADERSHIP
These types
of leaders give specific guidance how to accomplish tasks. Like a chemistry lab
manual, defining in exact proportions the quantities of chemicals and timings
for addition in the experiment.
SUPPORTIVE LEADERSHIP
These leaders
are friendly in nature and share concern for followers. They focus on
relationships and give a welcoming listening to their follower’s work, personal
issues, including family issues.
PARTICIPATIVE
LEADERSHIP
These
leaders are those who like to take suggestions from followers before making a decision.
This empowers followers who are confident that their suggestions are considered
in decisions. They take initiative and shoulder responsibility.
ACHIEVEMENT
ORIENTED LEADERSHIP
They set
challenging goals and expect followers to perform at the highest level. They
motivate followers and confide in them that even if set GOALS are not achieved
the performance would be better than expected and they will achieve near the
target. They are most interested in getting the job done. Based on style,
performance expectation of followers is set.
Sounds, like
a well calibrated model. Albeit, the model is too complicated to actually test
it. Such as, what kind of information is required for the test is uncertain.
Hence, this model has mixed support from various researchers. So good LEADERSHIP requires setting S.M.A.R.T. GOALS, providing a clear
path to the GOALS, so that followers reach the desired outcome. Overall, good LEADERSHIP involves much more
than removing road-blocks, which is a narrow scope.
A result is
that followers use the expecting theory where effort will equal performance
resulting in attaining desirable rewards exist. LEADERSHIP needs to provide motivation to achieving follower
satisfaction, best performance, achievement of goals and valuable rewards.
Great LEADERSHIP will help you achieve your BEST LIFE now.
Remember,
you are your primary LEADERSHIP coach and implementor, hence added responsibility and attention to
detail is a must, which will surely pay off. Now, this is not just a mind
thing, but has to be put down on paper, preferably written, as it adds up on
conviction. We will be here to answer email queries at cp@mygi.in. Basic
queries are for free. Remember the process has been shared, implementation is
your responsibility.
All the
very best to you on your well-planned start of the LEADERSHIP Process.
